Versatile, flexible and efficient! DOBOT composite robots

14 November 2023 | MECHANICAL ARMS

A product goes through numerous processes from raw material to finished product, which requires a lot of handling operations. The traditional mode of working is manual, inefficient and prone to material damage, and as labour costs rise, so do the operating costs of the business.
With the rapid development of robot control technology, a new form of composite robot incorporating machine vision has been opened up based on the complementary advantages of collaborative and autonomous mobile robots.
From one capability to multiple capabilities, from performing a single task to combining multiple tasks, this "hands and feet" composite robot further opens up the imagination of people and can meet the needs of more complex applications and segmented scenarios, becoming an important trend in the future development of the robotics industry.
In this context, DOBOT's composite robot solution combines multiple functions such as motion, gripping and inspection, and has been widely used in industries such as semiconductor, machine tool processing, 3C electronics, daily chemical manufacturing and electric power.

Wafer packaging and testing. Efficient loading and unloading of precision materials
The entire production process from wafer to chip includes thousands of processes such as cleaning, gluing, lithography, development, etching, ion implantation and testing. The frequent transfer of materials between various precision equipment leads to inefficient manpower, easy damage and contamination of materials and low accuracy rates.
DOBOT's compound robots are equipped with the CR series. With vibration suppression and compensation algorithms, the robots can grip and place materials in a stable and light manner. One composite robot saves four people while meeting the stringent requirements of a dust-free, vibration-proof and anti-static workshop.
In the example below, 30 DOBOT robots are used for operations in the wafer packaging process.

Compact and flexible machine loading and unloading, simpler process changeover Machine tool processing loading and unloading has many varieties in each process section, high operational repetitiveness and low manual operation efficiency and accuracy.

The space available in the workshop is generally small and the use of traditional automation equipment requires fixing to each machine tool, which takes up a lot of space and once fixed, subsequent line modifications can be time and labour intensive.

DOBOT's composite robot solution can effectively solve these pain points. One composite robot supports the loading and unloading of 12 machines, significantly increasing productivity and saving six people.

The CR10 collaborative robot with dual motorised grippers picks up and drops down material in a single operation. Combined with two-dimensional vision positioning and deflection correction technology, this ensures accurate loading and unloading every time. When switching between lines, it is simply a matter of setting the parameters in the software.

The 24-hour distribution room inspections are fast and responsive, with zero power supply faults.

Distribution room equipment requires regular, scheduled inspections and extensive data recording.

DOBOT collaborative robots provide "arms" that combine with a mobile chassis to form a composite robot that can inspect from any corner and view the status of the electrical cabinets in real time via a visual camera at the end.
In case of faults such as tripping, errors are quickly detected and power supply is restored through remote control of the composite robot, which is faster than manual response and more timely to deal with. 24-hour uninterrupted operation effectively reduces the frequency of power outages and ensures stable power supply for users.

Automated access to archives, separation of people from archives and greater confidentiality.
Accessing, borrowing and inventorying are the main tasks of records management, which are tedious and time-consuming, inefficient and costly to manage manually, and risk information leakage.
DOBOT's composite robots avoid the problems of manual management and make archive management more efficient and standardised. When accessing, the robot quickly finds the location of the documents through data search and combines visual positioning to capture them, achieving separation between people and documents throughout the process and meeting the requirements of archive confidentiality.
